TEDDYTONES MATCHMAN

$25.00

The return of MATCHMAN!

I was talking with Ethan (Tone Ranger Audio) last year about our favorite amps. He said that one of our favorite guitarists used to backline a Matchless DC30 and a Marshall JCM800. I started thinking about that pairing and thought it would be cool to try out. After about 30 minutes of tweaking, MATCHMAN was born. I put that patch out for free and got countless compliments on how it sounded and felt. I’ve been shocked at how far that patch has gone!

On the surface, there’s really nothing that special about it. It’s just models of a DC30 and a Friedman. Obviously killer amps, but kind of a pairing you wouldn’t typically think of. But to me, it feels like a sweet spot in the library of HX models.

And as a part of this release, I am so happy to have IR’s provided by ToneJunkie! These are new IR’s that they’ve created and they sound freaking incredible.

This patch just sounds absolutely awesome and I’m very proud to back it. Hope you love it. :)

FAQ

  • The bundles are in phase. However, once you start trying different combinations, I cannot guarantee all of them will be in phase. Thankfully, phase misalignment is very easy to resolve. Most FOH consoles have a phase reversal switch, and if you're willing to invest, Pinstripe makes phenomenal DIs that can fix it.

  • In my experience, input trim is highly subjective and varies from person to person. I have captures that sound best (to my ears) at +15, but those same captures work at +8.5 in other rigs. Everyone’s hands and setups are so different! I recommend starting at +8.5 and adjusting from there. You should notice a good amount of sustain, and the captures should feel incredibly dynamic. If you’re lacking either of these, increase the trim. If there’s too much compression or gain, lower the trim.

  • Absolutely. Tweak away! Use your ears. If the high notes are a little too harsh, bring the presence down. If lows are too boomy, bring down depth or bass! You have a lot of wiggle room with these.

  • Yep! CLEANWATER PLUS and MAVERICK & GRAND CANYON (PLUS AND STANDARD) are for you.
