PARTYBOI delivers the raw voice of a Matchless Clubman 35 head through a Sampson-era 2×12 open-back cabinet loaded mismatched 25W/30W Matchless-branded Greenbacks. The Clubman 35 is a 35-watt all-tube EL34 amplifier with cathode-biased output, hot bias points, and pronounced power-supply sag. It is known for its aggressive midrange bite, tight low-end response, and harmonically rich transition from edge-of-breakup to saturated lead tones. The matching 2×12 provides focused dispersion and enhanced punch that defined the late-’90s/early-2000s high-end boutique sound.
PARTYBOI was captured using a Shure 545SD and a Beyerdynamic M160, into a pair of Chandler Limited Germ 500 Pres and API 550b EQ’s.
Four TONEX captures included:
• CLEAN & BRIGHT
• CLEAN & DARK
• DIRTY & BRIGHT

Quick start tip
Load with Input Trim set to +3 dB in TONEX. A slight increase of the Gain control on the pedal (typically 0.5–1 dB) restores the exact liveliness heard in the room. These captures are intentionally open and highly responsive—adjust low-end, high-end, or drive to taste. They react like the original amplifier, with natural dynamics and no undesirable artifacts.
